The Paradox of True Life
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.” — Luke 9:24
Beloved, the kingdom of God often works in ways that go against human reasoning. In this passage, Jesus reveals a profound truth, the paradox of true life. The world teaches us to hold on tightly, to protect, and secure our lives at all costs. Yet Christ shows us that true life is only found through surrender.
To “save your life” is to live focused on self, pursuing your own desires, protecting your own interests, and relying on your own understanding. It may seem wise and safe, but Jesus reminds us that such a path ultimately leads to loss. A life apart from God, no matter how successful it appears, lacks eternal value and lasting fulfillment.
But to “lose your life for Christ” is to fully surrender to Him. It is laying down your will, your plans, your pride, and your ambitions, and simply saying, “Lord, have Your way.” It is a life marked by obedience, trust, and sacrifice. Though it may not always be easy, it is the only path that leads to true purpose and eternal reward.
This is the call to discipleship, a daily choice to deny self and follow Christ wholeheartedly. When you release control and place your life in God’s hands, you discover a deeper peace, a clearer purpose, and a joy the world cannot give.
Today, take a moment to reflect. Are you holding on, or are you surrendering? Are you living for yourself, or for Christ?
The promise is sure. When you lose your life for Christ’s sake, you will not experience loss. You will step into the fullness of life as God intended.
Choose surrender. Choose Christ. Choose true life.
You are Blessed! You are a Winner! Enjoy the week ahead!
